Azle schools raise nearly $9,000 during annual penny race
Every year, optimistic Azle teachers leave jars on their desks in the hope that a little change can make a lot of change.
This year students responded, showcasing their generosity in the Azle Optimist Club’s 23rd Annual Penny Race. Between Feb. 24 and March 6, Azle campuses raised a grand total of $8,731.57. Of that amount, $5,254 will go directly to the Community Caring Center. Using this money, the CCC will continue its annual tradition of giving out free backpacks full of food to district students in need.
