During a special May 13 meeting of the Azle City Council, Azle’s new mayor, two returning council members and one new council member were sworn in to elected office.
Former mayor pro tem and now-Mayor Randa Goode took time to speak about former Azle Mayor Alan Brundrett’s 22 years on the council and the many developments that have occurred over the course of his tenure and presented the outgoing executive with several farewell gifts. Through those two decades, Brundrett saw the opening of a new city hall, a new library, a splash pad, The FeedLot and more. Brundrett was presented with his framed gavel, a photo of City Hall signed by the council, a commemorative bench and a sign renaming the Central Park Splash Pad to Mayor Alan Brundrett’s Central Splash.
“A lot of people don’t know it was probably 10 years I was fighting for that … splash pad through multiple city managers,” Brundrett said.
