Local taxing entities receive May sales tax revenues

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced May 7 he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.3 billion in local sales tax allocations for May, 4.5% more than in May 2024.

These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.

Of the $1.3 billion Hegar distributed, $823.6 million will go to cities; transit systems will receive $266.1 million; counties will see $78.5 million; and special purpose districts will receive $125.9 million. Below is a list of local taxing entities who receive sales tax allocations and the amounts they received in their May payment.
