Stu Lankford holds up a miniature Texas at a June 3 Azle Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

The Azle Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off the summer season with its monthly luncheon of local business leaders last Tuesday.

At the beginning of the program, AACOC President David Shaffer recognized three recent Azle graduates who were awarded the chamber’s annual $1,000 scholarships. Students were selected based on their applications and scholarship essays. Azle Christian School valedictorian Jacelynn Hammond and Azle High School grad Addison Torgesen were both in attendance for the announcement while AHS grad Peyton Hill was out of town.

Hammond and Hill will both attend Texas A&M University while Torgesen will attend Brigham Young University.
