Council considers harsher restrictions on short-term rentals
Kenneth Bachelor urges the Azle City Council to consider stricter regulations or a ban on short-term rentals at a May 20 meeting. ZACH FREEMAN | THE AZLE NEWS

Short-term rentals have been a hot topic for the Azle City Council for more than a year, but even with a proposed ordinance up for vote in a May meeting, an end is not yet in clear view.

The Azle City Council conducted a public hearing and reviewed a proposed ordinance regulating STRs — like Airbnb or Vrbo — within city limits at a May 20 meeting.

The current draft ordinance allows STRs to be located in all single-family residential zoning districts, with the exceptions of the Lake Front Overlay District and the manufactured home zoning district. It also allows STRs in one commercial district — the downtown central business district — but none of the other commercial districts.
