Fallen veterans remembered; driving course offered

If you haven’t been to the Azle Adult Senior Activity Center recently, you have missed out on a lot of fun. Amanda Scott, special events and activities coordinator for the City of Azle, has joined up with us and is doing an awesome job of getting some activities and special events for the seniors.

The month of May started with a change of hours to accommodate those who would rather be here later in the day. Now open at 10 a.m. and closing at 3 p.m. allows participants more time to complete activities they are involved with. This also allows time for extended events like a movie day, craft times or time to visit without feeling rushed.

We recently had a special Memorial Day Remembrance with the Rev. Alton Davis, president of the Azle Area Ministerial Alliance and pastor at Community Bible Fellowship opening with prayer, followed by special guest speaker retired USMC Lt. Col. Stuart Lankford. The history of how Memorial Day came into being was followed by highlighting the struggles of military families when their soldiers have passed. Names of some of those soldiers were then read aloud.
