Heroes don’t always wear capes … or spandex

He didn’t wear a cape and I doubt he owned a pair of spandex pants.

But Jack Wendell Newton — all 5 foot, 7 inches of him — was one of those men who made me realize that heroes really do live amongst us.

His obituary screamed of normalcy — a family man who lived a good life and left a loving family behind.
