An influential Azle institution continues to be in good hands after the Azle Rotary Club held a changing of the guard.

The club’s outgoing chapter president welcomed its president-elect to take on his role — Bob Buckel and Victor Gonzales, respectively. Buckel has served as Rotary president for two consecutive years and has been instrumental in spearheading projects like the local Academy 4 program. Each year, the Rotary Club helps Azle residents in a variety of ways including college scholarships, health initiatives, education and support of area youth.

Gonzales came to Azle in August 2023 after being named the assistant director at Azle Memorial Library. He previously worked at the Central Library in Fort Worth. After coming to the city, Gonzales dove into Rotary Club and other communitybased initiatives without hesitation. He thanked Buckel for his service and committed to upholding his responsibilities in this new leadership role.
