The city of Reno thanked its employees and first responders for their service and sacrifice to citizens. Reno Mayor Hector Bas and his wife Jody hosted a luncheon for the Reno city employees, police officers and the Briar-Reno fire department with home-cooked meals and raffle prizes. Bas said a few words before handing out certificates of appreciation to various Reno officials.

“We wanted to do this appreciation luncheon for you to thank you for sticking with us,” Bas said. “Thanks for sticking with us during the tough time of disincorporation. It was very stressful for a lot of us including you guys because you didn’t know if you had a job.” Bas went on to say that the city has a lot of work to do and shared hopes for the future.

“We’ve got to show improvement and we’ve got to show the citizens that we deserve to stay as a city,” Bas said. “Thank you for giving us an opportunity to keep moving forward.”
