Azle Independent School District is growing the number of students it graduates who are better prepared to join the workforce.
Director of Career and Technical Education Dr. Suzanne Murr spoke at a June 16 school board meeting to fill the district’s trustees and administrators in on the state of Azle CTE. It’s no secret the district has massively expanded the opportunities area students have to train for careers outside high school. There are now 14 career clusters and 31 programs of study available to students. Students begin a program of study in junior high to prepare them for their desired career path.
There are 34 teachers at the high school who teach one or more CTE classes and 15 at the junior high campuses. There are more than 90 different course titles available in Azle ISD CTE. In specialty programs like animal science and cybersecurity, teachers have four to six different class preps in one day.
