A little bit of local pride and craftiness came together on the silver screen after an area local’s creation found its way to front row seats at a Dallas Cowboys game and a highly rated Netflix series.
Melissa Kellems has lived in Reno since 2015. She moved to the city after retiring from 32 years of teaching kindergarten in the Castleberry Independent School District. Two weeks ago, Kellems earned a spot in the limelight after a custom Brewer Bears doll dress was featured in an episode of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.”
Kellems learned to sew and knit from her mother and from 4-H when she was around 7 years old. It’s been a lifelong passion that she has enjoyed doing with her family ever since.
