Dorris named AHS girls golf coach

Former Azle multi-sport star and NFL player takes reins of Lady Hornets golf program

Azle ISD officially named Derek Dorris head coach of the Lady Hornets golf team earlier this spring. For Azle sports fans, the name is a familiar one. Dorris, a 1997 Azle High School graduate, returns to his roots in a new role — this time trading in track spikes for golf spikes.

Dorris, who has served as the head boys track coach at AHS, will now lead the girls golf program. His athletic journey is a story many in the community know well.
