Harvey Williams of Goodman Lane in Briar turned 90 years old Friday, July 25. The nonagenarian has been the talk of the neighborhood for several months after he created an 80-foot mural in his front yard. With help from friends, family and neighbors, Williams erected a long fence along the east side of his property in March. Originally, it was just meant to block out an unpleasant view next door.
“This place over here was full of junk and trash,' Williams said. “I got tired of looking at it... The people over here were taking the fence down over here and so (Williams’ daughter) went over and asked if we could have it. So, I got me a couple guys and I told them how to put this up. I supervised it.
And they cut the tops off and left the poles up. And then I decided to put a hole down and put American flags in each pole.'
