One-Way Dual Language and ESL instruction support emergent bilingual students’ cultural pride, academic achievement

Azle ISD serves more than 800 emergent bilingual students in grades pre-K through 12 through either a bilingual education program or an English as a Second Language program.

The goal of the bilingual education program is to help students become proficient in both English and Spanish. Azle ISD offers a One-Way Dual Language Bilingual Program in Spanish. “One-Way” means the program is designed specifically for emergent bilingual students — those who speak Spanish at home and are learning English.
