In a trial that concluded last week, a Parker County jury sentenced an Oklahoma man to 45 years in prison for a January 2022 burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony in which gunfire was exchanged with the resident of the home, according to a press release from the Parker County District Attorney’s Office.

Haivan Michael Thurman, 25, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony offense Monday and admitted he committed the offense using a deadly weapon. He elected to have a Parker County jury assess his punishment.

“The deadly weapon finding means that Mr. Thurman will have to serve at least half of his sentence before the parole board can consider releasing him,” said Parker County District Attorney Jeff Swain.
