Azle court introduces alternatives for crimes by youth

Courts around the state are giving youths a second chance when it comes to certain charges. Azle is no different. In January of this year, the Azle Municipal Court unveiled Azle Youth Diversion and recently began seeing its first cases.

In 2023, the 88th state legislature required that all the criminal courts implement a diversion program for kids 10 through 16. Azle’s court met with its first families interested in participating in AYD in June and concluded its third general meeting July 24.
