Fire chief fixes leak
Regular wear, tear and age caused a pipe to spring a leak in the pharmacy section of the Azle Walmart Aug. 4. The store’s employees attempted to catch falling water in trash bags before calling the Azle Fire Department to fix the problem. Azle Fire Department Chief Will Scott took on the task himself, riding a cherry picker nearly 20 feet to the store’s ceilings.
The flow of water through the building’s fire suppression system caused an alarm to sound repeatedly throughout the store. Azle Fire Marshal Melvin Wilson said the pipe had become rusty over time and began to fail, spraying a mist over the shampoo and hair dye aisles.
