Freshman Neri sets school and course record in debut 5K

The Azle Lady Hornets cross-country team made a strong statement at the Denton Ryan Gingerbread Jamboree Aug. 21, finishing second overall out of 14 schools.

The spotlight shined brightest on freshman standout Jazmin Neri, who not only won her race but also shattered both the school and course records in her very first 5K appearance. Neri broke the previous Azle High School record set by Emily Cole, cementing her name in the program’s history in her debut performance.
