Rapid population growth leaves jail, courts busting at seams

With assessed property values continuing to rise amid an economy just beginning to show signs of improvement, Parker County commissioners have called for voters to decide Nov. 4 whether to approve a proposed bond of more than $286 million. Funds from the bond, if it is approved, would finance a major expansion of the Parker County jail and construction of a new justice center to house the county’s courts and associated departments. Commissioners call it a “phased” plan and say details about how it will implemented are forthcoming.
