The Azle Lady Hornets returned from the islands not only with sand in their shoes but with a championship trophy in hand. The Hornets captured the inaugural Oahu Classic hosted by Kaylee Scholarship Association, going undefeated against opponents from Hawaii, California, Oregon and Texas.
“Our girls were able to share a unique experience that led to stronger bonds and memories I know they’ll hold onto forever,” head coach Kenley Buckholt said. “It was great to see our team step out of their comfort zone, be pushed in different ways and come out on top. Winning in Hawaii has brought us a new wave of momentum I hope will carry on to the start of district play.”
Senior setter Miley Massey said the trip was unforgettable. “The trip was great, we were beyond spoiled, and so fortunate to have been able to go to Hawaii. My favorite part was bringing back a championship.”
