One of the largest events in Azle went off without a hitch Saturday, Sept. 13 as the annual Sting Fling drew residents and visitors in to enjoy the many activities this year’s celebration had in store. Hundreds of attendees lined up along Main Street to watch as the parade kicked off, with Azle police officers leading the way, followed by a string of various clubs and this year’s sponsors.

The Azle Area Chamber of Commerce’s yearly event brought back the Classic Car Show, showcasing a lineup of custom and vintage vehicles suitable for any gear head. Of course, we can’t leave out Azle’s much anticipated Wiener Dog Derby, where “Noodle” not only took home first place for fastest four-legged friend, but also the award for best dressed. In second place for fastest pup was “Killien,” followed by “Heidi.” Emceed by chamber member Kelli Limbaugh, the derby brought in dozens of furry friends, tail-wagging their way to the finish line.

“We have great sponsorship and participation today. People in Azle just love their wiener dogs,” Limbaugh said.
