Beautifying the city one brushstroke at a time

Beautifying the city one brushstroke at a time

What started as a favor for a friend has turned into a full-fledged career for muralist Courtney Clarke, an Azle resident who was recently selected to create a Main Street mural as part of the Azle beautification board’s first project.

In conjunction with the board, Clarke was tasked to design a welcoming mural that would encapsulate the spirit of the city. With just a few suggestions and no concrete requests, Clarke got to work, exchanging ideas back and forth until they drilled down a design.

“They wanted something bright, welcoming, fun and relatable,” she said. “It’s on one of the main walls that you see when coming down Main St., so they (the board) wanted it to be eye, catching and positive as well as be a photo op wall so people can come down and take pictures.”
