Marshal: Fire alarm at Azle hospital caused by overheated refrigeration unit

A fire alarm at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Azle was traced back to an overheated refrigeration unit located in the lab building on the campus, authorities confirmed Monday.

The Azle Fire Department and Azle Police Department responded to a report of a fire and subsequently evacuated staff Monday morning, Sept. 29.

After a thorough investigation, Azle Fire Marshal Melvin Wilson told The Azle News a refrigeration unit in the portable lab building had overheated, causing a large amount of smoke inside the building.
