Heel to heal

A Walk in her Shoes Candlelight Vigil set for Oct. 9
Heel to heal

Azle residents will be taking a literal “step” toward domestic violence awareness during A Walk in her Shoes Candlelight Vigil, which will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at Azle Central Park, 263 W. Main St.

Starting at 6 p.m., the one-mile walk will honor families who have fled abusive homes and will raise awareness for those who are still suffering from domestic violence. The candlelight vigil, beginning at 7 p.m., will honor and remember the victims who have passed away.

The event will feature statistics and stories about domestic violence from a special guest speaker. Water bottles will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to wear purple — the nationally recognized color of domestic violence — to show their support for the cause.
