The Lady Hornets had a busy week on the volleyball court, defeating two district opponents in impressive fashion. On Tuesday, Sep. 23, Azle hosted Chisholm Trail at the Hornet Gym, where the team celebrated Youth Night and gave the next generation of players a show to remember. The Lady Hornets secured a 3-1 victory, with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-17.
Senior outside hitter Jacqui McClain led the charge with an outstanding 21 kills, while Tori Moore contributed 11 kills. Kami Swain added 10 kills and five blocks, and Addy Dorris pitched in with eight kills. Setter Miley Massey was instrumental with 32 assists, helping keep the offense flowing smoothly throughout the match.
The excitement continued Friday night, as the Brewer Bears came to visit Hornet Gym. Azle was once again dominant, dispatching the Bears in four sets. McClain was a standout once more, racking up 22 kills, while Lyric Mize contributed 10 kills and Kami Swain added another eight kills to her tally. Miley Massey also excelled, recording 31 assists and four service aces. Defensively, Heather Lockridge was a force, notching 19 digs and adding two aces.
