On Saturday, Oct. 4, the First Methodist Church Azle held its beloved annual Lord’s Acre celebration, a long-standing tradition that brought together food, fellowship and fundraising for a good cause. The festivities kicked off earlier in the week with a two-day tent sale Thursday and Friday, Oct. 2 and 3.
The event featured a variety of attractions including a tent sale, frozen food booth, sweet shop, barbecue lunch, silent and live auctions, and a quilt raffle.
This tradition dates back to the early days of many churches, when families would dedicate a portion of their crops, such as an acre of cotton or peanuts, to support the ministry. The proceeds from these gifts helped support church ministries, fund building projects, and provide for various community programs.
