The long road trip south paid off in a big way for the Azle Christian School Fighting Crusaders, who overwhelmed the Round Rock Christian Academy Chargers56–6 Friday, Oct. 3. The decisive win moves ACS to 5–1 on the year as it continues its strong nondistrict campaign.
Junior wide receiver Grayson Smith once again delivered an electrifying performance, racking up 123 rushing yards and a touchdown on just six carries while also hauling in 125 receiving yards. Smith wasn’t finished there; he also added a pick-six proving to be a force on both sides of the ball. With that interception Smith tallied 298 all-purpose yards. The Fighting Crusaders totaled 545 total all-purpose yards.
Senior fullback Gage Anderson galloped through the Chargers’ defense, contributing 107 total yards and a touchdown to help pace the Crusaders’ ground attack.
