With candles in hand and hearts full of purpose, a small but mighty crowd gathered at Azle’s Central Park Oct. 9, for the Walk in her Shoes candlelight vigil — proving a group doesn’t have to be big to make a powerful impact.
The walk — hosted by the Future, Hope & Healing Center — is one of the center’s annual fundraising events that honor domestic violence victims.
According to 2024 statistics that were recently released from the Texas Council on Family Violence, 161 Texans were murdered by their intimate partner last year. Out of those 161, 17 were family members, friends or bystanders who were killed.
