Hornet runners bound for regionals
The Azle girls cross-country team earned its way to the Region 1 5A meet by finishing second at the district meet.

The Azle High School cross-country teams are heading to regional competition after both the boys and girls squads earned second-place finishes at the 2025 District cross-country meet at Central Park in White Settlement.

Freshman standout Jazmin Neri continued her impressive debut season, finishing second overall to earn All-District honors and the title of District Newcomer of the Year. Neri’s performance helped pace the Lady Hornets to their team runner-up finish and secure a spot in the Region I-5A Meet.

On the boys’ sideNick Ambrose and Jose Romero each earned All-District recognition, finishing ninth and tenth, respectively, to lead the Hornets to their own second-place team finish and a trip to regionals. Both the girls and boys junior varsity teams also finished in second place.
