After enjoying a rare open date in district play Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Azle Lady Hornets made the most of their extra preparation time. The rest and readiness paid dividends Friday night as Azle took down Keller Fossil Ridge in four sets, 25-18, 15-25, 26-24, 25-18.
Senior outside hitter Jacqui McClain, a Tarleton State commit, led the charge with a dominant, 25-kill performance against the Lady Panthers. The Lady Hornets’ senior leadership once again proved invaluable, with Heather Lockridge anchoring the defense with 29 digs to keep rallies alive.
At the net, Azle’s two seniors, Sophie Weger and Miley Massey, combined for a balanced attack, recording 22 assists and 21 assists respectively.
