West Nile Virus detected in Ash Creek Park
The mosquito-borne West Nile Virus has been detected in a sample from Ash Creek Park in Azle.

The Tarrant County Health Department has confirmed a positive test for West Nile Virus in mosquitos collected from Ash Creek Park in Azle. Visitors are encouraged to take precautions by applying mosquito repellent containing DEET when spending time in the park.

Azle Parks Superintendent Kyle Culwell told The Azle News the city routinely collects mosquitoes for testing for the virus and will continue to do so. Because of the positive test, areas in the park where water pools have been treated, and city staff continues to be diligent with testing and treating.

According to Tarrant County Public Health, the most effective way to avoid West Nile virus disease is to prevent mosquito bites:
