Jerry Kay Bales Ludwick, born July 30, 1940, in Holland, passed away surrounded by family Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Biggers Funeral Home.
Service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle. Interment followed Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle.
Born to Raymond D. Bales and Nina Baggett Bales, Jerry moved to Azle at the age of 2 and was baptized in Eagle Mountain Lake 10 years later at Road’s End. Jerry graduated from Azle High School in 1958 and married her sweetheart, Billy Doyle Ludwick, that same year. They would celebrate 64 years of marriage together.
She went on to graduate from North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas) with her Bachelor of Science degree in 1969 and with her master’s degree in 1971.
Jerry was a pillar of her community. She taught at Colleyville Elementary for 33 years and at the University of Texas at Arlington for three summers before retiring and substituting in Azle.
She was a member of Terrace Acres Baptist Church, Bellevue Baptist Church, and finally Ash Creek Baptist Church. Jerry was also a member of the Richland Hills and North Fort Worth chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star.
We are all so glad she has found peace in Heaven and are excited to watch as her legacy continues in her descendants.
She is preceded in death by husband, Billy Doyle Ludwick; parents, Raymond and Nina Bales; brother, Gene Raymond Bales; son-in-law, Dennis Raymond Haney, and granddaughter, Jennifer Christine McDonald.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Ludwick and Teresa Haney; brother, Charles (Mary) Bales and sister, Shirley Woods; grandsons, Jonathan (Andrea) McDonald and Kayla Renee Haney; great-grandchildren, Harley Roman McDonald and Corbin Isaac McDonald, and numerous family and friends.
