Gary’s Celebration of Life will be held at noon Thursday, April 9, in the Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Gary was born in Fort Worth to Cecil Eugene and Earline Lisby Wilson Oct. 24, 1949. He grew up in Fort Worth, attended Castleberry High School, played drums with the marching band, and marched in the Rose Bowl Parade in 1967. He met and married the love of his life, Cherryl, and moved to Azle where they made a wonderful life together for more than 46 years.

Gary had three careers in his life. His first was that of an electrical supervisor at the Missouri Pacific Railroad for many years. His second was the owner of Azle Rent It and Auto Sales. The third, and by far his favorite, was head of security and personal bodyguard for his best friend at Al Boenker Insurance Company.

He loved to fish, was an avid hunter, an excellent marksman, a fierce friend, a devoted father, a loving husband, and a faithful servant to the Lord.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Eugene Wilson, his mother, Earline Harrell, and his brother, Cecil Eugene Wilson, Jr (Rick).

Gary is survived by his wife, Cherryl Wilson of Azle; his daughter, Kellye Wilson Irvin and husband Daniel of Rendon; sister Karen McPherson and husband Howard of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
