Lloyd Dale 'L.D.' Sheets

Lloyd Dale “L.D.” Sheets passed away June 3, 2026, at age 91.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at White’s Azle Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 11 at GracePointe Church, 4110 E. Highway 199, Springtown, TX 76082. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11at Roosevelt Cemetery in Roosevelt, Oklahoma.

L.D. was born May 4, 1935, in Hobart, Oklahoma to Wilburn Acey Sheets and Evelena Rae (Files) Sheets in a home located east of Roosevelt, Oklahoma. He graduated from Roosevelt High School. He married Shirley Mae Roberts and together they had one son, Shane Sheets. L.D. enlisted in the United States Air Force in July 1957, and was stationed in San Antonio, Tennessee and Alaska.

In 1964 L.D. moved his family to Weatherford, where he managed a bowling alley and eventually went into car sales until he retired. During retirement he would go back to Kiowa County, Oklahoma to help his brother Bob wheat farm.

L.D. was a devoted golfer. He found joy in every round, every fairway, and even the occasional visit to the woods in search of a lost golf ball. If heaven has a golf course, he is already asking where the first tee is.

L.D. was preceded in death by his late wife, Oweeda Sheets; his parents, Wilburn and Evelena Sheets; and his nine siblings: Ruel, Jack, Katherine, Cowboy, Leolla, Lois Jane, Billy, Bobby and Emma Louise.

L.D. is survived by his son, Shane Sheets, and daughter-in-law, Beth Sheets; grandchildren, Gus Sheets, Shana McCollough and her husband, Michael, Tracey White and her husband, Brandon, and Valarie Short and her husband, Rob; and great-grandchildren, McKinley, Maklynn, and McKoy McCollough, Rylan and Lexi White, and Lillibeth and Brody Short.
