Tyler was born Oct. 5, 2005, in Fort Worth to Jennifer Ulrich and Kent Ulrich. He moved to Azle in the fourth grade, where he grew up, formed lifelong friendships and graduated from Azle High School in 2024. He continued his academic and athletic journey at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, where he was pursuing a degree in finance while playing the sport he loved — football.
Tyler was a remarkable young man whose quiet strength, unwavering integrity, selflessness and genuine heart left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him. He was never one who needed to be the center of attention, yet his presence could light up a room, and his smile had a way of making those around him feel instantly at ease. He led, not through the loudness of his words, but through the strength of his character, the kindness of his heart and the example he set for others.
From an early age, Tyler demonstrated an extraordinary dedication to both academics and athletics. He consistently earned honor roll recognition throughout his school years and continued that excellence in college, earning a place on the Dean’s List every semester. His passion for football began long before his college years, carrying him through Azle High School and ultimately earning him both athletic and academic scholarships to Southern Nazarene University. As a safety for the Crimson Storm, Tyler was more than a teammate. He was a natural leader, a loyal friend and someone others could always count on, both on and off the field.
Beyond his accomplishments, Tyler found his greatest happiness in the simple things that made life meaningful. He cherished time spent with his family and friends, loved being outdoors and on the water, and enjoyed pushing himself in the gym.
But above all else, Tyler loved the Lord. His faith was not simply something he spoke about; it was the foundation of who he was and how he lived. He sought to honor God through his actions, his relationships and the decisions he made each day. His life was a reflection of humility, compassion and a steadfast devotion to Christ.
Although Tyler’s time on this earth was far too short, the impact of his life will reach far beyond the years he was given. He will forever be remembered for his gentle spirit, his courageous heart, his infectious smile and the quiet but powerful way he made the world better simply by being in it. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the friendships he built, the love he gave so freely and the faith he carried so faithfully.
He was preceded in death by his beloved Papa, Larry Pidgeon and other cherished family members.
