Jack Wendell Newton

Jack Wendell Newton passed from this life Monday, May 12, 2025, in Fort Worth at the age of 87.

A funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Ash Creek Baptist Church, followed by interment at Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 16 at Biggers Funeral Home.

Jack was born April 27, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to Wendell Newton and Doris (Pasley) Newton.

Jack lived a life marked by faith, dedication and love for his family. He was a graduate of Dallas Baptist University and Southwestern Theological Seminary, where he nurtured his deep commitment to ministry. He also applied his analytical mind as an electrical engineer for Southern Illinois University and as round house foreman for Illinois Central Railroad before answering his calling as a pastor.

Throughout his life, Jack found joy in target shooting, reading and traveling, but above all, he cherished time with his beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jack’s legacy of love, wisdom, and faith will remain in the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will live on

through his family.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Doris Newton.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Newton; his children, Ellen Driscoll and spouse, Tom; Linda Bierle and spouse, Terry; and Edwin Newton; grandchildren: Michael Graham and spouse, Amber; Cody Graham and spouse, Breyanna; Kevin Bierle and spouse, Megan; Sam Bierle; Lacey Bierle; Alexander Newton and spouse, Hannah; and Anna Grace Newton; greatgrandchildren, Abby Graham, Cassidy Graham, Everett Graham, Elam Graham, Emma Grace Newton, Adeline Bierle, Brynn Bierle and Baby Bierle due in September.
