Lifelong Azle resident Kelly Holmes passed away Sunday, July 6 after succumbing to lengthy health problems. The first of six sons born to Kenneth and Darlene Holmes, Kelly grew up surrounded by family and friends. A 1976 Azle High School graduate, Kelly made his career as a heavy equipment mechanic. Later in life he drove a school bus for Springtown ISD, a job he immensely enjoyed until a stroke sidelined him. A father of two sons born 16 years apart afforded him time to love and cherish each one individually. A loving father and devoted son, Kelly will be missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Holmes, son, Robby Holmes, brothers Ricky Holmes and Butch Holmes, and nephew, Marshall Holmes.

Kelly is survived by his mother, Darlene Holmes; son, Kenny Holmes; brothers David Holmes and Carol, Billy Holmes and Jesse Holmes and Sharon; seven nieces and five nephews.
