1938 — 2025

Forrest Lloyd Horton entered the arms of his loving Savior Aug. 31, 2025.

Visitation was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at First Baptist Church in Springtown, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment was in Springtown Cemetery in Springtown.

Forrest was born March 29, 1938, in North Zulch to Benjamin F. and America Horton. He started school in Madisonville and moved with his family to Azle in 1948. He graduated from Azle High school in 1956.

While attending school in Azle he played football, baseball and track and was a member of the Drama Club and Math Club where he was awarded the Who’s Who Award in mathematics. Forrest met his wife Dorothy in 1957; they were married in 1958 and enjoyed 66.5 years together.

Together they raised four children and traveled all over making wonderful memories.

Forrest was a bricklayer for several years.

In 1966 he went to work for Lockheed and retired from there in 2000. While at Lockheed he was proud to have worked on the F-111, F-16 and the B-58.

He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, doing puzzles and collecting coins. He was also an avid bowler as a young adult and belonged to a bowling league with his brother. He enjoyed a good game of dominos, specifically 42 with his brothersin- law. When his kids were young, he was a member of the Lions Club of Springtown where he was a coach and held many offices. He was proud to have been a member of First Baptist Church for more than 70 years. Of all the things he did, he was most proud of his family. He enjoyed taking them camping and fishing, teaching them fun things and helping them to get into mischief.

Forrest is proceeded in death by his parents; son Randy Horton; greatgrandson Tristan Boston; and brothers John Horton and Frank Horton.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; sons Jack Horton (Jammie) and Tim Horton (Teresa) of Springtown; daughter Valerie Logan (Eddie) of Springtown; grandchildren Krystal Rice (Rusty), Jessica McCartney (Jason), Whitney Horton, Brooke Davis (Charlie), Peyton Logan (BreAnna), Blaire Early (Justin), Kylar Horton (Samantha), Kyndal Weaver (Brady), Madison Osbourn (Caylor) and Bai-Lee Ford (Hadyn); 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kathy Sorrels; brother-in-law Eddie Haugen (Susie); and many nieces and nephews.
