Robert “Bob” Rettew, Jr. was born May 27, 1962, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Patricia Rettew.

He graduated from Manheim Township in 1981, where he spent much of his time on the wrestling mat. Shortly after graduation, Bob joined the United States Air Force, eager to see the world — though fate had other plans and stationed him in Texas, the place he would come to call home.

Bob became a proud father to his sons, Robert “Bobby” Rettew III, born in 1983, and Tommy Rettew, born in 1984. In 1992, he married his soulmate, Lisa, and together they built a beautiful, blended family with her children Meshia and Taylor.

Bob worked for Bass Enterprises for 38 years before retiring in 2024. He spent his retirement doing what he loved most — traveling with Lisa and going on family adventures with his kids and grandkids, cheering on his grandchildren at every event possible, and finally seeing the parts of the world he had hoped to visit during his military service.

A lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, Bob never missed a chance to rib his Cowboys-loving son-in-law, Derek, especially when the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl LVII (52) in 2023 and he got to witness that in person. He cheered “Fly, Eagles Fly” through every season — and now, this Eagle has flown home.

His quick wit, loyal heart and infectious humor made him loved by all who knew him.

Bob will be remembered for his devotion to his family and the way he made every gathering brighter. His spirit will live on in the stands, stories, traditions and love he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia (and Phil Shank).

Bob is survived by his wife of more than 33 years, Lisa; his children Bobby Rettew (Emily), Tommy Rettew (Pamela), Meshia Neely (Derek) and Taylor Wright (Christopher); beloved grandchildren Parker and Sawyer Neely, Charlee and Josephine Rettew, and Baylee and Dean Rettew. He is also survived by his sister, Robin Wentzel, brothers Rodney Rettew and Jon Shank, three nephews, one great niece and one great nephew along with extended family and cherished friends.
