Donald Sean Gibbons went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, at the age of 78.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 at First Methodist Church of Azle, 200 Church St. in Azle.
Don was born in Fort Worth to Marshall and Dorothy Gibbons. Dorothy was from Belfast, Ireland, and she was one of the first war brides to return with her husband to Fort Worth. Don graduated from Paschal High School in 1965 and received his associate’s degree in aeronautical engineering technology from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1968. After working for General Dynamics and LTV, he went to work for Bell Helicopter-Textron in Fort Worth in 1973. He retired from Bell in 2004 after 31 years of service.
Don married Nancy in 1979. They moved to Eagle Mountain Lake in 1985, where he enjoyed the "easy lake living" of fishing, boating, and entertaining friends and family. He was known for his kindness and generosity, his big smile and laughter, and his full-of-life personality.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Deborah Lynn Tahmahkera.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gibbons; daughter, Cheryl Abbott, and son-in-law, Dan Abbott; grand-daughter, Emily Terrett, and grand-dog, Olivia; brother, Bruce Gibbons, and wife, Karen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended friends and family.
