Barbara Gayle Woodard Stewart passed away Jan. 15, 2026.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle.
She was born April 12, 1939, in Edinburg, to Charles Clinton Woodard and Maudie Opal Wilburn Woodard. Barbara was raised in Lamesa and graduated from Lamesa High School.
In 1957, she married Kenneth Ray Stewart, and together they had two daughters, Ora Diane Stewart Boshers and Barbara Lynn Stewart. Barbara worked as a hairdresser in Lubbock and in Sparks, Nevada. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree, she pursued a calling in healthcare and worked as a registered nurse in Fort Worth
Barbara was a longtime member of a quilting club and greatly enjoyed reading. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her strong work ethic and her creativity.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Adren J. Woodard and J.C. Woodard; her sisters, Charlene Cravey and Shirley Sampley; her husband, Kenneth Stewart; and her daughter, Ora Diane Boshers.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Barbara Lynn Stewart; grandchildren, Angela Nichols, Brandon Nichols, Brent Burgess, Heather Burgess, and Chad Boshers; great-grandson, Devan Nichols; great-granddaughters, Kayla Nichols and Kimber Nichols; sister, Nancy Jean Crumpton; son-in-law, John Boshers; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Barbara was loved by many and will forever remain in our hearts.
