Ferrol Jean Miller
Ferrol Jean Miller, 80, of Azle, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at 11:06 p.m. She passed peacefully surrounded by her sisters, children and their spouses.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. Interment will be held at a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, where she will be laid next to her beloved husband of over 44 years, Dean Benton Miller.
Ferrol was born June 22, 1945, to Martin Christian Senne and Mildred Fern Wilkie in St. Louis, Missouri. Just after she was born the family moved to Greene, Iowa, where she grew up. She graduated from Greene High School and entered the Allen Memorial School of Nursing, starting a 40-year career as a registered nurse. She worked in multiple disciplines in the hospital setting and eventually becoming the school nurse at Walnut Creek Elementary in the Azle Independent School District, where she worked as a tireless advocate for children’s healthcare, vision and well-being for over 20 years. During this time, she also was a passionate advocate for equal retirement access for education support staff. Ferrol was deeply devoted to caring for others, a calling she lived out both professionally and personally throughout her life.
Outside of work, she found joy in the outdoors, gardening and bird watching, solving jigsaw puzzles, and singing soprano in both the Christ the King and St. Matthew’s church choirs. Ferrol was a dedicated, lifelong student of scripture, adult Sunday School teacher, altar guild member, church council president, as well as liturgical assistant minister in worship. She volunteered countless hours at Attic Reruns in Azle, a charity store benefiting Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle. She was an active member of the P.E.O. sisterhood, where she proudly advocated for women’s leadership and education. Above all else, she cherished her children as well as doting on her grandchildren, who were the center of her heart and a constant source of joy.
Ferrol was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Fern Senne and Martin Christian Senne; and husband, Dean Benton Miller.
She is survived by daughter, Sarah Bennett and husband, Alan; sons, Brian Miller and wife, Ashley, and Michael Miller; grandchildren, Grace Bennett, Madeline Haines and husband, Max, Conner Bennett, Alexander, Abigail and Graham Miller, James Case and Scott Miller; sisters, Margaret Gabe and husband, Lynn of Pinetop, Arizona, Joanne Gustafson and husband, Terry of Azle; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family requests no flowers, but that memorial donations are made to support causes that were close to her heart, including healthcare for the disadvantaged, pet adoption, and women’s empowerment and education.
