Sharon Darlene Gechter

Sharon Darlene Gechter, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Jan. 9, 2026, at the age of 74. She was born August 18, 1951, in Wichita Falls, and graduated from Wichita Falls High School.

Sharon took pride in her role as a homemaker, raising her children with care and dedication. Sharon was an accomplished quilter who operated her own manual machine as well as some computerized quilting machines and quilted for families in her neighborhood and area. She enjoyed working at several quilting businesses over the years and was a proud member of a community quilting club with other women called the “Hen House.” Her quilts remain treasured by her family, with many displayed in their homes.

Sharon was a woman of faith who loved Jesus and placed her family first. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She also found great joy on the family’s 32 acres, where she spent many hours watching and caring for and feeding the wildlife, including deer, turkeys and crows. Sharon was a hard worker who took pride in maintaining their property. She worked alongside her husband to care for the land they shared whether it was ground maintenance, growing Christmas Trees, raising emus, geese or ducks.

Sharon will be remembered for her faith, her love for her family, and the quilts she made for those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Billie Joe Francisco Davis; her brothers, Butch and Richard Davis; and her sister, Joy Davis.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William Gechter; her children, David Gechter and his wife, Michelle of Weatherford, and Candace George and her husband, Josh of Azle; her grandchildren, Tristan, Ashlyn, Lacy and William; and her siblings, Glenda Newsom, Rhonda Davis and Jimmy Davis.
