Asa Horton 'Bud' Lewis Jr.
Asa Horton "Bud" Lewis Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully Feb. 21, 2026, in Fort Worth. Born March 22, 1934, in Henderson County, Bud lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, faith and a variety of skilled trades.
A memorial service will be planned and held at a later date to honor Bud's remarkable life.
Bud proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for approximately 10 years before transitioning into civilian life. A man of many talents and with an unwavering work ethic, he built a successful career as a master plumber and owner of Bud Lewis Plumbing. In addition to his plumbing expertise, Bud was also a certified farrier and welder. His skills extended beyond the professional realm — he was known as an all-around cowboy who embodied the spirit of hard work and resilience.
A longtime member of Ash Creek Baptist Church, Bud's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He found strength and community within the church and carried those values into every aspect of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Asa Horton Lewis Sr. and Lois Mae Hopson; beloved wife of 66 years and nine months, Berthena Levell Curbo Lewis; son Bobby Lewis; son-in-law Franklin Shearman; granddaughter Grace Ann Lewis; and numerous brothers and sisters who have gone before him.
Bud is survived by his loving family: daughters Debbie Lewis, Carla Williams and Tonya Shearman; sons Buddy Lewis (Haddon) and Laddy Lewis; sisters Mary Perry and Erma Lewis Mayberry (Don); daughter-in-law Gail Lewis and her children, Brandon Rogers and Natalie Lewis; grandchildren Brandon Rogers (Hailey), Natalie Lewis, Asa "Tyrell" Gentry (Chelsea), Kasee Williams, Benjamin Williams (Mandee), Kendal Shearman, Eric Shearman (Amanda), Clinton Lewis, and Mary Lewis Lara (Jerry); great-grandchildren Parker Lewis Rogers-Brown, Asynn Gentry, Allasyn Gentry, Addasyn Gentry, Aldyn Gentry, Lily Williams, Trulee Williams, Maizee Williams, Birdee Shearman and Willow Shearman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.
